What is the difference between inspirational and influential

Inspire — the means to make someone feel that they want to do something and can do it. Therefore the difference between influencing and inspiring is something intangible — a feeling. Consequently, inspiration is less about you and more about your audience and how they receive your message. It also means that the effects of inspiration will far outlive those of influence. By leading with your why, you speak into the hearts and souls of your audience, fostering both trust and loyalty. Leading with your why is how companies like Apple get their customers to wait in line for hours to be the first to buy their products.

My opinion might be a little naive but after reading the article, I feel that 'influence', is a person being moved emotionally by another person whereas 'inspire', is a person being moved emotionally by another person's artwork.

Thanks for your comment! That is also a viable comparison. The more someone is moved by the person, the more influence his work has on the one being influenced. The impact might be the same as the inspiration that came from the same person - but one might change the path of someone, the other a particular piece.

Motivating' requires giving someone a 'motive', usually self-interest or self-preservation along the lines; while influencing is a higher-level skill that makes the desired action their idea. Motivation gets you going. Influence is what makes you go in a particular direction.

Something is driving our deepest affections, whether that is to veg-out or train for a marathon. Influence is what takes us in a particular direction. Influence is the primary ingredient needed to move others toward an objective. Influence best happens when it is intrinsic, as extrinsic motivation is fleeting. Money, perks, and extra time off are temporary and are not tied to the actual task at hand. Those motivated by them can quickly disassociate from the mission as soon as better money, perks and extra time is offered by a less noble cause or objective.

In this case they will be influenced to join arms and march the streets of Selma for no pay while in fact putting themselves in danger.
