Why mw2 is better than black ops

Black Ops gets high numbers TheRadiobox 17 August It follows an ex-CIA and Marine operator as he remembers his missions during his interrogation by an unknown party. Mason Worthington is being interrogated by two unknowns; they want to know what the numbers mean.

Hudson's perspective is also seen as he recalls his missions in Russia and Kowloon; as is Reznov's as he tells Mason some stories about his past. As he is grilled for information, Mason begins to realize he knows more than what he thought he did. Characters are mostly very good. Mason is a stellar protagonist, having worked with both sides of the Cold War which has led to his friendship with Reznov and compulsion to kill the three enemy targets. He is particularly resilient to torture and long stretches of confinement, which makes his devotion to his journey all the more meaningful.

Woods is equally well done, with similar strength and ire for the enemy. While he is not given much in the way of backstory in the first Black Ops title; he is endlessly charismatic, making one-liners on occasion and has an entertaining roughness. Bowman and Brooks are weaker, again being strong, charismatic, and skilled, but less so than Mason and Woods. Hudson and Weaver are very good, residing in a morally grey area in order to make progress on their missions, and have a more reserved personality that can break away and show their ruthlessness.

Reznov is the most charming, having an endless drive to please his country and no respect for leadership due to events in his past. The three baddies are good too. Since the audience is given a chance to see what they did to earn their reputations, it gives them presences that most villains do not get.

Performances are all pitch perfect. The mystery is expertly presented, on par with movies like the Usual Suspects and Memento. All of the twists make sense when given some thought, each event that played out differently from one perspective to another is revisited later on and given appropriate justification for the way they were initially shown. It is truly fantastic and well doctored work.

Technically the game has clearly aged, but was very good upon release, however i will only write about the action, audio, and direction because pointing out graphical quality in a ten year old game just seems shallow.

Sound design is fantastic, each weapon and vehicle has its own distinct personality and impact. Explosions in the game are better than most in movies, with a brutal level of bass and reverb. Vehicles are all distinct, with choppers having an authentic whirring sound and accurate visual presentation. Tanks are given gravitas, with each shot fired causing ringing and blurring that never feel forced.

Other sounds are also well done, and the sounds of death; whether by gunshot, explosion, fire, or strangulation are horrifyingly visceral. And the musical score is just perfect. Black Ops' story still holds up just as well as it did in , with an intriguing setup, perfectly drip-fed clues, good characters, solid voice acting, and fantastic technical details; the campaign better than most of Hollywood's output ever has been.

My only complaint is that Bowman, Brooks, and Weaver were not given as much personality as the other characters. Treyarch in my opinion shouldn't be put underneath Ininity Ward. I love MW, but Treyarch just keeps on brining brilliance to it's games. This is game makes it their time now. Their time to show everybody that their games aren't just some appetizers to MW.

First lets talk about the singleplayer. The controls are the same, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

The story is without a doubt well written. It takes place during the Cold War and Vietnam times. It is a story covered in mystery. You want answers just as much as the characters do. The story takes place in an interrogation room. Your character is being ordered to decode a group of numbers, and find out what they mean. From there it's a trip down memory lane as you go into flashbacks that tell out what led you to this predicament.

It's a great story, but what I liked most about the story was the character Reznov. Reznov is a character from World at War that you meet in a prison from there he is pretty much your best friend. You feel for his character, and when the twist about the character was made at the end I was simply shocked. As for the rest of the characters I think they did a great job.

Also voice acting is great. Although Gary Oldman as Reznov is my favorite. Now lets talk about presentation. The graphics, sound editing, and music are all simply top notch stuff.

One thing I loved about World at War was the violence. The violence in this game shows how MW2 are a little squeamish. Sure they killed an airport of civilians, but did you blow their limbs off in that game. No you did not. The sound editing is just great showing off a lot of talent.

The music is also superb. Now that I am done with the singleplayer lets talk zombies. There are three modes. It is extremely fun, and it is also hilarious. Hearing JFK saying quotes from his speeches after killing a zombie is priceless. Then there is Dead Ops Arcade.

It is an overhead shooter that involves living as long as possible, and getting a lot of points. It is flat out fun, and it feels like something that could be sold on X-box Arcade. For Treyarch though it is just part of the game. Now we get to the real reason why this game sells. The Multiplayer is a ton of fun. It has the same matches from MW2, but a few changes have been made.

Leveling up doesn't get you a weapon anymore. You unlock it, but you still have to pay for it with CoD points.

This makes leveling up just a status. What really gets you your guns is how good you are. Also a lot of complaints from MW2 have been fixed. No more nukes, quickscoping, and scavenging claymores. Now the campers are forced to fight like actual gamers. These additions in my opinion are welcomed. Also just recently they listened to some complaints about the Black Ops Next, Prev.

Now you can only go to a previous map once. This makes things much less dull and more of a full experience. Also there is Combat Training and Wager Matches. Combat Training involves you fighting against computer player with your friends gamertags. They move slow and act stupid, but it is an excellent way to train.

Wager Matches are matches where you gamble with your CoD cash. If your running low, but have the confidence that you can do good you should check it out.

Also if you are a guy who feels invincible, and you like to beat down noobs while taking their cash then I also recommend. Is the game perfect? A problem that has annoyed me throughout my online experience is when game lobbies are closed. I'm OK if it happens every once in a while, but there are times when I get three closed lobbies in a row.

After a while you might only play Derail snowy sniper map or Rust tiny spam fest once every games. Only the Hard Core 'pro' players seem to get regular games nowadays.

Casual shooters are regularly stuck with interminable IWNet searching and massive pings. The return to dedicated servers, where you can easily pick your favourite map, game type and see what your ping is, has caused rejoicing among CoD players.

You can jump straight into games, and, despite regular calls of lag, it's not nearly as bad as MW2. Crashes are ironing themselves out, but they still happen too frequently for our liking. A major, unforseen, downside to IWNet was that the lack of server admin meant that players could never be kicked. If you had been waiting ages to get into a game, only to find you were playing with a flagrant hacker, you'd be stuck with them until they went away. You could be waiting many matches for this.

If you disconnected and reconnected IWNet would often dump you back into the same place. This and the lag amplified the accusations of 'Hax' which appeared constantly throughout any match. It got to the point where, if you actually did come across a flagrant hacker and we're talking about flagrant walling and aim bot in kill cams you couldn't do anything about it except send a complaint to Steam.

The lack of admin also meant that swearing and abuse became vile. The anonymity and lack of sanction meant people cut loose all the time. While there are calls of hax on Black Ops , it's not nearly so bad.

And admins often now kick players for being unruly. It's far better. You also now get servers which ban launcher spam aka n00b tubing and some other equipment.

This is can be refreshing when you're up against players that never fire a bullet. Much as people may roll their eyes at having emblems and titles given out as a reward system, in MW2 they were big, brash and always exciting to unlock - like genuine medals.

This has been greatly diminished in Black Ops thanks to fixed rank-related emblems which are too small to see properly. While customiseable titles in Black Ops are seeing some creative designs the reward system is surely inferior when it comes to titles and emblems. That said, in the last days of MW2 , there were so many rank hacks that rare emblems lost kudos with many obviously-inferior players sporting them through rank hacks. Black Ops still has prestigious unlocks but for only high-level prestige see below players.

The most obvious of these is the Golden Gun. However, these started appearing within two weeks of the game's launch - a suspicioulsy short period of time to get to the 14th prestige level required to unlock it.

Prestige is when you reach the top rank and start playing from rank one with all guns and unlocks reset. There were 70 ranks in MW2 and it took n00bs like me around hours to get through them all and then prestige.

In Black Ops , top players are prestiging in just 12 hours! I'm one-third the way through my second prestige 18 hours. In MW2 , to prestige you really had to use a wide variety of weapons and try hard to complete challenges. In Black Ops you're supposed to do the same thing and even fight wager matches in order to generate CoD points for buying new weapons and equipment. However, all that has become redundant thanks to the Nuketown map. Nuketown is a tiny map that dissolves very quickly into a total spam fest.

If you're playing Demolition bomb the target modes and Domination capture objective points you can finish ten minute games with around kills and XP and CoD points galore. And that little RC-XD is a lot of fun! User Info: johnburdess. I like black ops better because my little brother always whines and there is finally splitscreen online.
